How to Transform a Kiddie Bedroom to Tween Bedroom

Transform your child’s “kiddie bedroom” into their dream “tween bedroom” in just one weekend! All with the ease of Amazon Prime – and on the cheap – because that’s just how I roll 🙂

I think all the back to school prep was making my kiddos feel a little more grown up than usual (one just started middle school!). They went from pink unicorns and aqua walls to a more minimalist and sophisticated style in what feels like one weekend! While we ended up redoing both girls’ rooms, for this post I will focus on the first transformation and share the second another time 🙂

The Kiddie Room to Tween Room Transformation all started with a Birthday…

Our youngest daughter just had a birthday and her top request was a bedroom makeover. She is our fashionista and trendsetter so I was not surprised 🙂  I set her up with a Pinterest account to get an idea of what she wanted and off she went. Every day she added and removed pins until she had a very specific vision.  A modern vibe softened by plush fabric and accented with succulents and wall quotes.

I purchased a few items on Amazon that would have the biggest impact -white duvet, marble pattern sheets, string lights, floating shelves, lamp, succulents, alarm clock, etc. (I will post all of the amazon links for you below) and then Rob and I got to WORK!

We painted her pink room the perfect grey – Benjamin Moore’s Smoke Embers, which we have in other areas of our house. We also lightened up her espresso wood dresser and an end table from our office using good ‘ole Rustoluem 2X spray paint in white satin.  Lastly, we gave her bookshelf and vanity table a quick top coat to freshen them up too.

We still have some finishing touches to do – Wall art to create and a book shelf and vanity to style! More pics to come on those 🙂
